Eila went in for an ultrasound and chemo today. We were completely amazed at how well she handled the ultrasound. Usually she screams and cries, you'd think it was the most torturous thing. But today's tech suggested that Eila snuggle with me on her stomach so she could get most of the images from Eila's back - it was perfect. Hopefully we'll be able to do it that way again in the future.
The ultrasound also gave us good news: Eila's tumor is continuing to shrink. It now measures 1.8 x 1.8 x 1.2 cm. Although it's unclear if the dimensions are in the same order as last time, the overall volume is smaller either way. Hopefully it will reduce even more with the next two treatments before surgery.
Unfortunately chemo was a little more involved today because they weren't getting blood return from Eila's port. What? Each week's chemo appointment starts with a blood draw so that they can check her counts. Well, today they couldn't get blood to come. They could, however, inject her with stuff. So we tried giving her IV fluids - she's been sick this past week and not eating/drinking much - and we waited. Then they gave her anti-clotting meds, and we waited. They were able to get just enough to run the test, and we're crossing our fingers that it'll be better next week.
After the fluids, she felt much better and wanted to ride the police car again.
Now, just two more weeks to go until surgery.

eila REALLY loves that police car.
It's nice to have some encouraging news, especially in light of the blood work not quite doing what it should have. It seems that as medical procedures get more sophisticated, they also have more possibilities for little events that are disquieting. Thanks for the blog update! Blessings.
