Aunt Rachel's Sings

My sister Rachel was kind enough to record (with my dad's help) several children songs shortly after Annikka was born. Annikka loves the CD, and I'm sure Eila will, too. Here are the songs, which I've finally uploaded for everyone to hear:



Morning Town Ride (#8), which we call "Rock 'n Roll 'n Ridin'," is Annikka's favorite.

Overheard on the ride home from daycare

DANA: Annikka, what would you like for dinner, noodles or rice?

(silence)

DANA: Annikka, do you want noodles or rice for dinner?

ANNIKKA: I don't like my choices.

Wiggles and squeaks

Annikka, being a helpful big sister, is explaining to Eila (aka Sweet-pea) all the animals on the activity mat.

Big girl bed

Annikka decided that she is now ready for a big girl bed, so after dinner we converted her crib.



She was VERY excited about it.



She's done pretty well with the transition, and mostly stays in her room playing before going to sleep.

Two weeks

Eila had her 2 week doctor's appointment today. Not much to report, she's doing well and now weighs 7 lbs. 11.5 oz.

Annikka loves her baby sister so much. It's really been great to see her interact with Eila.

Bath and stories

We have all had a nice first week welcoming Eila into our family.

She had her first bath at home, which provided an opportunity to get a picture with her eyes open (can seem very rare with a newborn).

I was late to get the camera and Annikka kept waiting for me to take a picture, so she would turn & smile as she was singing. But since this is Annikka favorite song, hopefully there will soon be a repeat performance.



But mostly, we've just sat and looked at this beautiful new face.

Eila enchanted Annikka from the very beginning.

Annikka is absolutely delighted with her new baby sister Eila. She has loved to hold her, kiss and hug her, sing to her, and rub her little fuzzy head.

The first morning home, Annikka came upstairs to our room. I helped her onto the bed, thinking that she would give us big hugs and kisses, but instead all she was interested in doing was laying next to Eila to talk to her and rub her head (with a kiss or two, too).
