Lake Tahoe - Pt I

For our long drive to Lake Tahoe (~10 hours), we got Annikka her first set of headphones so she could listen to stories on the ipod. We were not prepared for what happened - our normally non-stop chattering girl said nothing from her for 5 hours except when she'd ask to have a story started again! Here's how focused she was on listening.

Everyone was very excited when we finally got to the vacation house. The first thing the girls did was go on a pinecone hunt with Grandpa.

The next day we went to the beach and into the freezing waters of Lake Tahoe. When you're 2 and 5 it takes more than a lake full of ice water to slow you down (although no one went in past their waist).

There was a boat pulling a parasailor around this area of the lake and Eila kept yelling at the bright yellow parachute.

We were so excited to find this wonderful kids pool at a park in Incline Village. Swimming is probably the girls favorite activity, and this was much warmer and more accessible for swimming.

Ruthie was a big fan of the swimming pool, too, which was good because she was not a fan of the lake.

Annikka was very busy practicing her swimming.

But we did manage to get her to come up for a picture or two.

We also found a great park nearby. Annikka has recently mastered pumping her legs on the swing, so now she can stay on as long as she wants.

Eila loves playing with the "drivers" at parks - and I used to wonder why they put random steering wheels on playground equipment.

From July/August 2012

Eila is such a climber, she's not afraid to try climbing anything (sigh).

And of course there was lots of playing around the house, and reading books, and singing songs.

A funny little video that Joel took of the girls entertaining each other.
