Kisses
Annikka is very excited about being a big sister. She likes to tell us about the things she's going to do for her little sister, like bring her a blanket or a bosch, and the things she will share with her, like her books and her bed. And she likes to give her little sister hugs and kisses. Here we are with 6 weeks to go.

baseball
Although it's not shaping up to be a killer season for the Beavers, we've enjoyed going to a few baseball games.
And Annikka always enjoys every opportunity to see Benny Beaver.
Annikka also provided Joel with a nice opportunity. They were returning from the bathroom when a foul ball bounced off the roof of a concession stand and Joel was able to catch it. It's the first NCAA ball in his collection and he would want you to know that Brett Mooneyham of Stanford, BAs 21st ranked prospect for 2011 draft, was the pitcher. The Beavers lost.

A few pictures
Annikka's interactions with Oliver have increased so much over the last few months, although whether Oliver thinks that's a good change is questionable. She has started calling him "baby Oliver", which I think is hilarious since Oliver is 13 years old (obviously too old to object much), and refers to herself as his big sister. So I guess she's getting ready for our new family member.
Annikka also got her first trike. She's still working on riding it (our driveway is too slanted, so it's hard to practice on), and is better at going backwards so far.
And here's a picture from Easter, showing that she has learned the joy of olives.

Poem
Grandma loves to visit Annikka at "school" (and we love it because it's something Mom or Dad can't really do). On a recent visit, they went to the near-by park together, and Grandma taught Annikka this poem. Now Annikka recites it when we go to a park, or for her babies at the dollhouse park.
How does it feel to go up in a swing,
Up in the sky so blue?
I do think it's the pleasantest thing
That ever a child can do.
(According to google, it's the beginning of The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson.)

Underwear
Annikka's full first day in panties was a big success! She had a busy day (gymnastics, party, park, etc.), but remained accident-free. Now she is even brave enough to sit on a "big potty" (i.e. one without her toilet insert that makes the seat smaller so she won't fall in).
I'm so happy, and a little sad as I realize that it's a sign that her baby days will soon be behind us. But it means we will have a little girl.
