Fillings

Annikka had to go to the dentist today to get fillings - who knew you got fillings in baby teeth. And it's a very different experience for preschoolers, they get drugs to make it possible for the dentist to work in their mouths. I was really unprepared for just what it meant for her to get sedatives, it took less than 10 minutes for her to be unable to stand or talk (she tried but her words were all slurred together).

This is very drugged Annikka at the beginning of her appointment:

Slightly less drugged Annikka (with a numb upper lip) at the end of her appointment:

Afterwards we went home, she was seeing double (she pointed out "two" planes flying together, but there was just one) and things moving (like the walls and floor). She kept telling me that the dentist forgot to fix her cavities and take her x-rays - the dentist told me that she would not remember anything.

Luckily it had all worn off by the time she woke up from her nap, so we went out to do something fun ... getting her toenails painted, purple of course.

When we were talking about her dentist appointment and what would happen, I told her that we would be spending the day together so we could do something fun afterwards. Getting her toenails painted has the hands down winner, and her top priority for the day.
